"The Plank" - A Piece of Caversham Park Village History on Film

When Caversham Park Village was still being built, Eric Sykes and the late, great Tommy Cooper starred in a film called "The Plank".  It was filmed in 1967 during the construction of phase two.

Watch the part of the film that was filmed in Elstow Avenue here on YouTube.  Do you now live in that Dalkeith house?  I bet you don't have the same windows that were in the film as they should have been swapped for the all-glass versions!

If anyone wants to remember what Caversham Park Village looked like in its early stages, wait until 4m 25s.  There is a great view in the background (through the window just after the Express Dairies' milkman arrives - wasn't CPV just served by Cliffords Dairies?) looking down what is now Milestone Way before Davis Estates Ltd went bust and the middle phases were still fields!  If you walk down to the end of Fraser Avenue or Elstow Avenue today you will be looking from the same point though the view will be rather different and the tree line will either be gone or changed!
